The college photographer provides photographic coverage for digital and print publication, in consideration of marketing initiatives set forth by Communications and Public Affairs. We put priority on photographs that advance efforts to tell the college’s story to the largest possible audience, enhance the college’s website, supplement news stories that appear on the homepage of the website, and appear in pieces that reach primary audiences, including the Davidson Journal magazine and admission materials.

When possible, the photographer will be available to fulfill other requests for photos from academic offices and administrative departments.

If we cannot provide a photographer for your needs, we will assist in arranging a student photographer. If neither is possible, we can recommend outside freelance photographers. We also provide tipsheets and guidelines for using your smartphone to take photos, as well as workshops and scheduled tutorials on photography.

If you would benefit from a tutorial in iPhone photography, look for information about Communications and Public Affairs office hours and workshops on Inside Davidson and in the twice monthly faculty and staff e-news.

All photos taken by the college photographer are subject to become part of the college’s photographic archive and may be shared with other offices and departments. Davidson College owns and retains the copyright to all images. Photos may not be published, sold, reused, or modified in whole or part without prior express written consent from Communications and Public Affairs.
